Ma Qingyun was a painter known for his shallow cobalt blue (qingcai) porcelain paintings during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. He primarily focused on figure painting, including landscapes, flowers, birds, and particularly children. His figures' attire demonstrated the elegance of ink wash painting, with large heads and slender bodies. The contrast between their jet-black hair and the rosy cheeks enhanced the softness of the facial features. Ma Qingyun's artworks were beloved for their primitive techniques, skillful execution, and exquisite painting style.
