Late Qing Dynasty (19th Century) Jun Ware Imitation Cong-Shaped Vase

Dimensions: 5.5 inches wide x 5.5 inches deep x 10.75 inches high (13.97 cm x 13.97 cm x 27.3 cm)

This cong-shaped vase imitates the style of Jun ware, featuring a typical square exterior and a round interior. The evenly distributed horizontal ridges are reminiscent of the faceted surfaces of ancient jade cong. The flared, round mouth and sharp angles give the vessel a simple yet refined silhouette, appearing more delicate and meticulous than genuine Song Dynasty wares. This is a typical interpretation of the cong shape in the Qing Dynasty.

The body is covered with a kiln-transformed glaze primarily of rose purple and begonia red. Interspersed with blue and pale moon white glazes, the colors flow naturally, blending seamlessly to create a vibrant and colorful effect. The interior is decorated with a contrasting sky-blue glaze, a typical characteristic of late Qing Dynasty imitations of Jun ware.
